Slow speed may have caused truck accident in Illinois

Drivers should always be mindful of their speed when driving on the road, especially when driving on interstate highways where, in most cases, drivers end up driving too fast. However, there are other times when a motorist will drive too slowly, which can also result in a collision. This is what appears to have happened in a recent truck accident in Illinois.

Two vehicles, a passenger car and a tractor-trailer, were driving westbound on the highway when the incident happened. It was in the early morning hours in late November when the two vehicles collided. The Illinois State police were dispatched to investigate the incident to determine what happened.

The results of the investigation revealed that the passenger car was in the right lane. Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer was traveling in the left lane behind the sedan. Apparently, the passenger car was being driven at a speed slower than the minimum speed limit, which was 45 mph.

When the car's driver attempted to cross into the other lane, he or she drove directly into the path of the tractor-trailer. Authorities believe that the truck driver was unable to stop or slow enough to avoid crashing into the car. As a result of the accident, the car's driver was charged with violating minimum speed rules, not having a valid license and improper lane usage. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and received treatment at local hospitals.

Even though the truck driver's injuries were reported to be minor, he may be able to pursue personal injury compensation in an Illinois civil court if he believes that the other driver's negligence led to the crash. A successful claim may cover the expenses related to receiving medical care from the hospital following the truck accident in Illinois. In addition, he may also be awarded compensation for any pain and suffering that resulted from the accident.
