3 die in fatal truck accident in Illinois

The rules of the road are designed to protect motorists from injury and death. They are also designed to protect pedestrians. Unfortunately, it seems that one truck driver may have failed to adhere to the rules of the road in a recent truck accident in Illinois. The incident resulted in the death of three pedestrians -- a mother and her two children.

The incident occurred one evening in early March. A 30-year-old mother was crossing the street with her two children at approximately 5 p.m. This is when a semi truck ended up hitting the three pedestrians. All three pedestrians died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the fatal collision.

The driver of the truck may not have realized at first that anybody had been hit. The truck driver continued driving for approximately another block before finally stopping, according to police reports released to the public. The mother was transported to a local hospital immediately after the accident, while the children were transported to a different medical facility. Unfortunately, the victims were not able to be saved, and all three were pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the medical facilities.

When an Illinois truck accident results in the death of a pedestrian or a motor vehicle occupant, the family members of the decedent may have an option that will lessen the financial blow delivered by the accident. They can choose to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver whose negligence caused the accident. While no amount of money can bring back a loved one, compensation can alleviate some of the burdens that can arise from an unexpected loss.
