Accident in Hammond results in death and injuries

If you're injured in a car accident in Illinois due to a person's negligence, you may have the right to seek compensation to cover your injuries and damages. Money won't bring back people who were killed or repair broken body parts, but it can help you on the way to financial stability throughout this difficult time in your life. If you've been following the news from Nov. 24, you might have heard about the accident that took the life of one 29-year-old woman and caused injuries to four others.

The 29-year-old woman was involved in an accident along the 3500 block of Sheffield Avenue in Hammond, according to the reports, and she was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m. on Nov. 24. According to the police, the accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m., when a Geo Tracker crossed the center line and struck car in which the 29-year-old woman was a passenger. The vehicle also had three other women in their 20s inside. The 29-year-old woman was thrown from the vehicle, according to the reports, and she had to be taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment. Two of the other women were left in critical condition, and one was left with less serious injuries, according to the Hammond police chief.

According to police, alcohol may have been a factor in the accident for both drivers, but no citations have been given to anyone involved. The 23-year-old male driver of the Geo Tracker was also injured but did not have life-threatening injuries.

A car accident like this one results in injuries and death, which is why it's important to stay focused while driving. If you've been injured in a violent wreck, it's wise to look into your options for seeking compensation.
