1.2 million tires recalled by Michelin North America

Michelin North America has ordered a U.S. tire recall due to faulty treads. The company, which is recalling 1.2 million tires, has said that a tread and belt endurance problem was discovered after warranty claims were submitted on the vehicles. So far, there have been no reported injuries.

The issues included irregular wear, tread loss and rapid air loss on the tires during late 2013, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration representative. They think that up to 100 percent of the tires could be affected. Ford also used the tires on some of their 2010-2013 full sized vans. They are working with Michelin to determine the best course of action for their customers. Michelin will contact owners on how to get reimbursed or obtain replacement tires by early January.

Product recalls on defective auto parts should be taken seriously. They could cause injury or even death if not properly dealt with. Despite many safety improvements in cars and trucks, there are still manufacturer issues that happen from time to time that may result in litigation. Personal injury from vehicle defects may result in a product liability claim or other suits that can help the insured to recover their damages.

Many difficulties can arise after a car accident caused by a defective auto part as the victim tries to get back compensation for the loss. Insurance claims and state laws may complicate things. An attorney experienced in auto accident claims may be able to recover the proper compensation due to the injured, such as monetary compensation, lost work wages, hospital bills and other damages.
