Possible drunk driving car accident in Illinois kills one

For some automobile drivers, commuting to work or to a recreational activity is a necessity of life. Driving drunk is never an acceptable act and this type of behavior can result serious injuries or death. Motorists must keep their attention on the road at all times in order to avoid becoming involved in an accident. Sadly, a recent Illinois drunk driving car accident left one dead.

The crash took place on a Wednesday night. The accident occurred on Touchy Avenue when a car struck a 42-year-old male pedestrian. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital where he died shortly after his arrival.

The 44-year-old male driver of the car was also rushed to a medical center. There were passengers in the intoxicated driver’s car who were not hurt. After arriving at the hospital, the man was treated for minor injuries. Police arrested the driver and his bond hasn’t been set at the time of this report.

The driver who struck the victim has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of this incident. There was no information regarding the man’s blood alcohol content. The investigation remains ongoing.

While the investigation moves forward, the victim’s family will have to decide how to proceed in the aftermath of this drunk driving car accident. This event could be very hard emotionally and financially for the family. The victim’s love ones could be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim in an Illinois civil court, which could result in financial compensation. This possible compensation could be used to pay for funeral and burial costs that were the result of the unfortunate incident.
