Driving a vehicle can be an enjoyable event for anyone who has a license. However, if a driver is speeding and not paying attention to his or her surroundings, a pleasant drive can turn into a dangerous situation. In some tragic incidents, motorists can be seriously harmed or killed. Sadly, a recent Illinois car accident has left one dead and four injured.
The accident occurred in the middle of the night when two cars collided on a highway. One person was taken to a hospital and died shortly after having arrived. There was no report as to whether the deceased individual was driving either of the vehicles that were involved in the fatal crash.
Of the four people who were injured, three were taken to a local medical facility, while one refused treatment altogether. At this time, there have been no citations or charges issued concerning this accident. Illinois authorities will most likely continue to investigate this incident in the coming days and weeks.
This unfortunate event could create a difficult time for the deceased victim’s family. After the investigation of this car accident concludes, the deceased victim’s family may have the right to file a wrongful death claim in an Illinois civil court. Monetary damages gained from a successfully litigated lawsuit could help ease the family’s suffering and could be applied toward funeral and burial expenses.
