Illinois car accident left 1, 2 injured dead in Adams County

Driving safely may be the most important thing a motorist can do in order to avoid a car accident. However, even if a person drives with alertness, sometimes the unexpected happens. Recently in Illinois, a car accident left one dead and two injured.

The crash took place on a Friday morning. The incident occurred on a highway when a vehicle veered across the center line of the roadway in order to avoid two cars that were parked on the roadside. The car that was hit struck one of the parked cars. Due to the seriousness of the accident, both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. The 66-year-old male who was driving the first automobile was rushed to the hospital and soon died as a result of the traffic accident.

The 51-year-old car driver was taken to a local medical center. He was treated for serious injuries. A 52-year-female, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to a local hospital for treatment after the crash. She suffered moderate injuries.

The other driver was not hurt by the wreck. At this time, there have been no citations or charges issued concerning this accident. Illinois authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic accident.

As the Illinois investigators struggle to unravel exactly what occurred in this car accident, the injured victims and the family members of the driver that was killed will have to decide how to handle this tragic case. The family of the deceased may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim, though that will likely depend on the position of the stopped vehicles and the speed of his own vehicle. A successfully presented claim may help with some financial stress resulting from funeral and burial costs and other monetary damages. The injured victims could also be entitled to monetary damages if they can establish that their injuries were caused by the negligence of one or more of the other parties to the collision.
