A beautiful Sunday afternoon appears to be the perfect time to go cruising in a 1957 Chevy. Many couples throughout Illinois enjoy time spent cruising in their classic vehicles. Recently, however, one such enjoyable afternoon turned tragic when another driver hit the classic car. The end result was a deadly car accident.
Authorities have stated that the classic Chevy was being driven by a 56-year-old Illinois man. His only passenger was his 55-year-old wife. As they were traveling along Illinois 26, another driver was coming from the opposite direction. This driver veered across the center traffic line and into oncoming traffic, crashing into the classic car.
The driver of the classic vehicle died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. His wife was also injured in the accident and was transported to a local hospital. The other driver suffered injuries as well and required transport to a hospital.
The driver who crossed over into oncoming traffic has been cited in this car accident. These citations include being in the improper traffic lane and not reducing his speed in an attempt to stop an accident from occurring. However, no reason has been given to explain why he crossed over into the other lane and crashed into the couple’s vehicle.
Traffic citations will do nothing for the grieving wife and family who have been left behind. They will still have to deal with the financial and emotional implications of this tragic car accident. In an effort to do so, it is possible that they will pursue legal action within Illinois’ civil court system.
