2 Illinois teenage girls die in fatal car accident in Erie

Driving a vehicle requires a significant amount of responsibility for the safety of passengers in the vehicle and others traveling on or near the road. Maintaining control of one's vehicle is of utmost importance in avoiding a car crash. Apparently, one young driver from Illinois recently failed to maintain control of her car, resulted in a fatal car accident.

The incident occurred in Whiteside County at approximately 10:30 p.m. on a night in late October when a 16-year-old driver was traveling on a local roadway in Erie. A 16-year-old female passenger was also in the car at the time of the crash. Somehow the driver lost control of her vehicle, causing the car to slide into the end of a bridge. The vehicle then flipped over and landed upside down.

The vehicle came to rest in a drainage ditch before catching on fire. Both girls died from injuries suffered in the incident. There have yet to be any reports as to whether the impact of the collision or the fire itself ultimately caused the deaths. Authorities are planning to continue their investigation.

Although authorities have not as yet officially concluded that the driver was at fault in the car accident, the family of the deceased passenger retains the right to commence a wrongful death lawsuit in an Illinois civil court. A successful litigation may help with paying for funeral costs and other financial losses during this emotionally challenging time. The evidence gathered by the authorities may be useful in any civil trial related to the tragedy.
