Speed may have caused fatal car accident in Illinois

Driving in a safe manner may not only save the lives of drivers, it can also help to keep passengers safe as well. However, failing to do so can cause serious consequences and many times results in the loss of human life. It turns out this may have been what caused a recent fatal car accident in Illinois.

The crash was caused by a driver failing to reduce her speed in order to avoid a collision, according to reports released by authorities. The 21-year-old driver died along with two passengers in the one-vehicle crash, which occurred just shortly after 2 a.m. in mid-October. The passengers who died were a 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.

A third passenger managed to survive and was transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment. The 23-year-old man is currently listed in critical condition. All of those riding in the vehicle at the time were wearing their safety belts. The vehicle had been traveling westbound when it drove off to the right side, leaving the roadway and ultimately crashing into a tree and coming to a final rest at an embankment.

Although initial reports seem to indicate that the driver was at fault in causing the fatal car accident in Illinois, the authorities are still continuing their investigation to obtain more evidence. The families of the decedent passengers as well as the passenger who was injured may want to monitor the situation closely. Any evidence obtained by law enforcement may be valuable in future civil lawsuits filed against the estate of the driver.
