Alleged drunk truck driver causes 2 deaths in Illinois

It is important for drivers to be completely aware when on the road. This means taking action to ensure that a person is completely rested and fully aware. It also means that one should avoid certain actions, such as drinking before sitting behind the steering wheel of a vehicle. Unfortunately, one allegedly drunk truck driver may have failed to do this in a recent truck accident in Illinois.

The 36-year-old man has been charged with several criminal charges in the recent accident, which occurred in mid-December. Authorities charged the man with second-degree reckless endangerment of safety. He was also charged with two counts of homicide resulting from intoxicated use of his vehicle.

The man had been driving his pickup truck while heading eastbound on the freeway when the incident occurred. Somehow the man ended up traveling down the wrong way on the road in the westbound lanes. This resulted in the man crashing into a car traveling westbound. The head-on crash resulted in two deaths.

The driver of the westbound vehicle suffered severe injuries. He was immediately transported via ambulance to a local hospital. Despite their best efforts, medical staff were not able to save the man, and he was eventually pronounced dead at the hospital. The man's passenger in the westbound car also died from injuries caused in the collision. The driver of the pickup truck was also transported to a nearby medical facility.

Although the families of the loved ones will try to move on with their lives, there will still be significant emotional challenges ahead. However, there will also be financial obstacles to deal with as well in the form of medical bills, funeral costs and possibly the loss of household income resulting from this truck accident in Illinois. On the other hand, the families of the decedent may be able to take the sting out of these unexpected costs by filing wrongful death lawsuits against the alleged drunk truck driver.
