Drivers are forced to share the road with other motorists. This is why traffic laws were created — to minimize confusion and to help to prevent collisions which can prove to be fatal. Unfortunately, two men lost their lives recently in a fatal head-on collision in Illinois after one apparently failed to follow the rules of the road.
The incident happened one morning in late March when two drivers heading in opposite directions crashed into each other on the highway. One driver was a 23-year-old man who was in a car heading westbound. The other driver was an 85-year-old man who was traveling eastbound on the road in a small pickup truck.
The driver of the car ended up veering into the other lane into oncoming traffic. The driver of the pickup attempted to avoid crashing and drove off the roadway; however, he was not able to avoid the collision and was struck by the car. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not yet determined why the driver of the car ended up crossing into the other lane. Both drivers died at the scene of the crash, according to the latest reports.
When someone is killed in a head-on collision in Illinois, his or her family members are often left wondering what to do. This can be a challenging time for them emotionally and even financially due to unexpected funeral costs. Fortunately, the family members of a deceased victim may be able to seek compensation that will cover their loved one’s final expenses, along with providing them compensation for their loss.
