A woman with a young infant in her care was arrested in La Salle county after she was involved in a collision with a truck on Saturday, Nov. 4. It is reported that she was arrested after the collision was due to several reasons, the most incriminating of which being the fact that she was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, which means that she had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or more.
The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office also reported that the woman was also charged with the crime of putting a child’s life in danger due to her reckless driving. In addition to this, she has also been charged with improper usage of lanes, and failing to reduce speed in order to avoid an accident.
The collision occurred when the woman’s minivan drifted at speed from the southbound to the northbound lane on Route 71. Because the minivan drifted into oncoming traffic, it collided into a Freightliner Box Truck. Although an attempt to avoid a collision was pursued by the 27-year-old truck driver, there was a partial collision between each passenger side of the two vehicles.
The truck driver was admitted to hospital to be treated, and the woman refused treatment. The infant in the car was not reported to suffer any injuries.
Collisions that involve driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving can lead to very serious circumstances. It is important to research the specifics of the circumstance you have been involved in, since liability for the crash cannot always be assumed.
